Youth opera programs with Central City Opera

The Great Opera Mix-Up

A baritone, soprano, and mezzo with brightly colored shirts saying their voice range peer into the Great Opera Mix box

"For drama that can't be beat, surprise them with something sweet."

Singers, with help from students, sort out a series of operatic mix-ups to discover that opera is simply storytelling – with plot, characters, conflict, resolution, and MUSIC. Ingredients include tunes and characters from Hansel and Gretel, The Barber of Seville, The Child and the Enchantments, and many others. This is great preparation for a story writing unit or simply as reinforcement of literacy elements for all grades.

Grades: K-6
Available: Year round

Performed by 3 singers and pianist
Cost: $350 single/$450 double (back to back)
Colorado Academic Standards: Music, Reading, Writing, World Languages
