9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Performances

Central City Opera (CCO) partners for the first time with the Junior Symphony Guild (JSG) on their 2010 Tiny Tots Inside the Orchestra program. CCO will bring opera to the 23rd annual program which takes place Jan. 25 through Feb. 10, 2010 at venues throughout the Denver metro area ranging from Boettcher Concert Hall to the Wildlife Experience and El Jebel Shrine (a complete list of performances is located at the bottom of this release and at www.jrsg.org). Performances take place at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on dates listed.

A 45-minute performance, Tiny Tots Inside the Orchestra engages, entertains and educates pre-school children six and under.  JSG’s adult professional orchestra surrounds the audience as they hear well-known repertoire ranging from “Looney Tunes” and "Star Wars" to Beethoven.  The children and their parents are creatively engaged in theatre-of-the-mind activities as they grow to the music, stomp like giants and gallop like horses to the William Tell Overture. For the first time in the history of the program, live opera music will also be performed by local Central City Opera Ensemble Artist Lukas Graf. He will sing “Largo al factotum,” widely known as “The Figaro Aria,” performed by the main character in Rossini’s famous opera, The Barber of Seville. Through the Junior Symphony Guild’s Tiny Tots Inside the Orchestra program and the Inside the Orchestra program for elementary students, the JSG has introduced symphonic music to more than 25,000 children in the entire Front Range region ranging from inner city Denver to suburban areas.

Designed to bring symphonic music to underserved communities, tickets are priced at just $5 (free for ages two and under) for Tiny Tots Inside the Orchestra with scholarships available. To purchase tickets, download an order form here and send a check to Sheila Gossen.  For questions or information, e-mail sheilagossen@hotmail.com.  Tickets are also available at the door the day of the performance.
