Young Hands on Opera and Art is a family event in collaboration with the Denver Art Museum. Children and their families will be captivated by a magical afternoon of opera in the enriched surroundings of the Denver Art Museum.
Central City Opera’s Ensemble Singers will present a lively interactive performance of How the West was Sung, in which Western frontier history comes alive when seen through the eyes and music of Colorado’s Silver King, Horace Tabor; Molly Brown, known as unsinkable; and other assorted and colorful frontier characters. In addition, there will be interactive activities for the kiddos including learning how to dance the Virginia Reel, a traditional and fun Western dance, as well as learning a song about Colorado pioneers. Following the program, participants will have the opportunity to visit the Western Art Gallery in the North Building of the DAM for some interactive coloring fun. Attendees are encouraged to wear Wester attire for the event.
The price is $10 per person and includes free museum access following the program. This event is ideal for children between the ages 5 - 12 years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
